What cCWCS can do for YOU!

Faculty Development Workshops and Symposia

Each summer cCWCS supports a series of intensive hands-on workshops for faculty and others involved in undergraduate education in the chemical sciences. These are typically five day workshops with 15-30 participants. The workshops are FREE to participants - housing, tuition and a per diem for meals are provided. Participants are responsible for travel to/from the workshop location, and are encouraged to seek institutional support to cover these expenses. We also encourage applicants to seek support from their institutions and to apply to the ACS Passer Fund.

cCWCS also sponsors shorter workshops (e.g., half-day workshops at the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education) and symposia at conferences.

Online Faculty Learning Communities

To further broaden participation in faculty development, cCWCS supports the development of web-based communities to engage faculty in the exchange of high quality and tested materials and pedagogies.

Dissemination and Implementation Grants

Participants in the cCWCS community may apply for small grants in support of implementation of high-quality tested curriculum materials distributed at workshops, and for dissemination initiatives. Implementation awards generally consist of support for partial release time, and dissemination awards generally provide modest travel awards for attendees to make presentations in conference symposia.

Further assistance for those working on undergraduate STEM education projects

We encourage individuals and groups to make proposals to cCWCS for support of activities that engage instructional faculty in networking and faculty development. Modest support is available for workshops and symposia. If you already have sponsorship for your activities, cCWCS can assist in advertising your program to a national audience. We can also assist in the development of web-based communities for your project.
